AUTHORS FACE THEIR FANS

“A Winsford businessman has designed a website giving bookworms the chance to judge authors by their covers!

Steve Bennett set up www.findmeanauthor.com as a novel way of letting readers see what their favourite writer looks like. The idea came when Steve realised he had no idea what his favourite author, Bernard Cornwell, looked like and had to go to his personal website to find out.

Book-lover Steve said: 'The unique characteristic of Find Me An Author is that everybody on display - from Stephen King downwards - has been alloted the same space. A survey of 300 people revealed that only 15% could identify three or more authors by their face alone. With this website many more readers will be persuaded to read more books.'

The website is essentially a database of photographs on which you can see genre-specific writers, without their names being displayed. Only when the photograph is clicked do you discover the identity of the writer by being linked to their website.
